This is crucial to reduce carbon leakage, strengthen competitiveness and enable the energy transition.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selcable welcomes the European Commission&#039;s proposal to include power cables containing aluminium and steel in CBAM. The proposal is an important step to create a level playing field and ensure European production of a strategic key technology.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Power cables are a central part of Europe&#039;s energy infrastructure and crucial for electrification. Today, approximately 90% of distribution cables and 70% of onshore transmission cables have aluminum conductors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For CBAM to have full effect, Selcable highlights three priorities:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Confirm that power cables are included in the regulations&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bring forward the introduction to reduce carbon leakage&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure the competitiveness of European exports&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 Securing the inclusion of power cables in CBAM is crucial for both the climate and the competitiveness of the industry.
