Powerful measures to strengthen the safety of submarine cables

Europacable welcomes the joint communication presented by the European Commission to strengthen the safety and resilience of submarine cables.

On 21 February, Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen presented the Joint Communication from the Commission and the HRVP to strengthen the security and resilience of submarine cables. The Joint Communication, announced by President von der Leyen on 9 February in Vilnius on the occasion of the Baltic Energy Independence Day, introduces a series of measures to strengthen the resilience of this critical infrastructure, focusing on prevention, detection, response, recovery and deterrence.
